CHILDREN HOSPITAL ROOM

INTERIOR DESIGN

2016

Final bachelor's project awarded by the University of Guanajuato, based on my dissertation research.

The context and the children's perception of the hospital room were analyzed, to come up with an interior design proposal based on environmental psychology theories.

Project questioning: How to improve hospitalized children's perception of their room?

HOLISTIC PERCEPTION

The environmental elements in the hospital room, such as smells, colors, ergonomic, light, textures, thermal comfort, and so on; affect the user's perception (children in a range age between 6-12 years old) and as a domino effect their feelings and behavior.

PROPOSAL

The room design proposed two entrances, one for the children and the family, and the second for the medical staff, to increase the user privacy

A play area for the children and a storage-disposal area for the medical staff is added to the room proposal

The room proposal analyzed the users' flow, including patients, parents, medical staff, and the wheelchair

Organic architecture is proposed to create a softer perception and a safer space without corners
